Carterton Senior A Match Report 2 July 2011
Saturday 9th July is shaping up to be a big day for
the Carterton Rugby Football Club with two home semi-finals being
played. It is expected that the Carterton ground will be a complete
sell out with support for the two teams.
The Senior Reserves booked themselves a home semi-final in the
plate competition against Eketahuna last week by their big win
against Gladstone, and this week it was the turn of the Senior A
team to register a big win to see them through to the Senior A
semi-finals against Martinborough.
Only one game this week with the Senior Reserves having the bye
in the final round and so the Senior A game against Marist kicked
off at 2.30pm. Knowing that maximum points were needed from this
game to guarantee a home semi, Carterton were always on top right
from the first whistle over what has become this year a lower
strength Marist side. Tries came at regular intervals and by half
time the bonus point for four tries was already achieved. The
second half was much the same, but Marist did cross for two
consolation tries to make the final score 56 - 10 to Carterton. Ten
tries in all to Carterton for a team that does seem to be getting
stronger each week.
Points scorers were: Dylan Higgison(2), Brock Price (2), Cory
McFadzean (2), Levi Volavola, Sam Hull, Deon Field, Blair Heming,
Jarrod Nyssen ( 3 conversions)
Player of the day points were awarded to:
1
Point to Cory McFadzean
2
Points to Dylan Higgison
3
Points to Paddy Cassidy
