The weather conditions were always going to play a major part in the result of the game and although not raining, the ground conditions were very wet and a strong southerly blow for much of the game.

In the end it was really a game of two halves dictated by the wind. Two very evenly matched teams contested most of the territory in the middle of the field and the points came to Eketahuna in the first half with two penalties and the only points in the second half were two penalties to Tipene Haira for Carterton.

The end result that the top two teams in the competition drew 6 all.
