A fine warm day for a change and excellent conditions for rugby.
Grey brought the game to Carterton which soon saw them leading with
a converted penalty but this was soon overtaken with a well timed
try to Lance Stevenson after a very slick backline move and the
conversion landed by Tipene Haira. Almost immediately from the
re-start an intercept try by Lance and conversion from Tipene Haira
had the score 14 to 3 to Carterton. This seemed to fire Greytown up
and soon they found themselves on the Carterton try line and after
numerous attempts the defence failed and Grey scored what were to
be their last points of the game. A penalty to Tipene Haira ended
the half with Carterton leading 17 to 8.
The second half was mostly Carterton with attack after attack
resulting in points. Unconverted tries to Lance Stevenson with one
more to bring up his hat trick for the game and two to Charlie
Brown saw Carterton take maximum points from the game with the
final score 32 to 8.
A good hard game that was needed going into the semi-finals in a
couple of weeks time and with the nearest rival having a loss on
the weekend, Carterton is now leading the competition by 10 points
with only two games in the round left.
Player of the day points were awarded to:

Point to Lance Graves
2

3
